Gender & Migration
WIDE+'s work on gender and migration is carried forward through the Gender and Migration Working Group, which promotes migrant women's agency, rights, democratic participation and transnational feminist collaboration across Europe.

WE-EMPOWER first transnational training 2023
The European Gender and Migration Working Group aims to promote the active agency and voice of migrant women, girls and gender non-conforming persons throughout Europe.
For us, migrant women include all women – including gender non-conforming people – who have moved between countries. This includes people who have been displaced, trafficked, or migrated from a third country or another European country to a destination in Europe.
Our work is grounded in an intersectional feminist approach guided by three core objectives:
Access to rights
Promote improvement for migrant women in terms of access to rights, work, integration, etc.
Coalition and movement
Strengthen coalition and movement building at local, regional, national and European levels.
Democratic participation
Build capacity for democratic participation.
We warmly welcome both new partner organisations and individual participants. There is no formal membership fee to join the Working Group, though WIDE+ encourages participants to consider joining the broader WIDE+ network as members to strengthen our collective voice.
Activities and Agenda
The Working Group organises online and in-person capacity-building events for transnational exchange, facilitates national events, and engages in awareness-raising and joint advocacy. We are currently working on a regranting project, funded by the EU, that aims to strengthen the democratic participation of migrant women in Europe. We aim to increase our focus on labour and care work of migrant women.
